p.1 #1 · Shelly

I just had to share this.
As my PP skills improve I like to look over my old photos and try to improve them.
The photo below is from 2007 and is two shots combined for focus-bracketing. It is part of a series using that shell as a prop.
Any suggestions or critiques to improve it further are welcome.

Below is the original 2007 version. I cant believe I was actually satisfied with this-

Thanks.
I'm just sorry it took me over a year to post process it properly.

John,
I like this and can see it as a mag cover shot.
My only nit is I see a bit of haloing on the shell's edge that the sunlight would be hitting center shot.
Thanks for posting
Dan

I think you did fine with the PP, the shell is quite beautiful and luminous. But I think the shell is to dominate and competes with the sunset. Would be a great travel poster.

It's nice, but I think that something between both versions might work even better. I like the soft, pastel feeling of the original. In the 'improved' version the shell and water contrast look a bit harsh, and the shell looks as if it might be pasted into the scene.

I have to agree. The shell is just a bit too contrasty in the first. Cool idea. I like it a lot.
