Here's what I did. I bought a HP-2133 with Linux on it and 120GB hard drive. At the time HP was offering a $100 rebate. With the $100 rebate I bought a 320GB hard drive. I removed the Linux hard drive and replaced it with the 320GB drive and install Windows XP on it. It has a built in SD reader and wireless adapter. The screen size is 8.9 inches. It has an aluminum case. By far it has the best keyboard of any of the minis. It's not a speed demon but does the job for me. I primarily use it when I'm travelling on a motorcycle.
It's much smaller and lighter than the Toughbook CF-18 I had been using.
I looked at all the mini notes about 2 months ago and settled on the Acer One. It has a model that comes from the factory with 1GB of memory, 160GB drive, Windows XP on board, wireless adapter, builtin card reader, 8.9 inch screen. My second choice was the HP but the Acer keyboard is better and if you look on the internet you will find performance comparisons that show that the Acer is by far the best performer. It also has more USB ports which I like. I am not crazy about taking a brand new machine and remodeling it so that it is what I wanted when I can get one out of the box with a warranty. The Acer also comes with an extended life battery which in real life give about 5 hours of work time. Price wise I was about to get it on Ebay for a net price of just under $300 after the Microsoft live.com/Ebay 30% rebate (which is now 25%). I am quite pleased with the purchase and I am sure that I would have also liked the HP but as I said the Acer seems to prove itself much faster on performance tests.
