Well the college freshman finally came home for the weekend and we had no time for strobes or anything fancy...so just used some window light and ISO 640 for the holiday card shot, took about 20 shots and this one was about the best. Had some others that were nice but the DOF was too shallow and was trying to avoid bumping the ISO even futher, this one at f2.5 and 85mm.
...may try again tomorrow if I can get them both standing still long enough.
I have been there. Mine are 15 and 19 and my 15 year old is in braces right now. As you verified, it can be like pulling nails to get them to pose together for photographs. Interestingly, I have them photographed with a medium format film equipment each year and they have no problem posing for that photographer.

Beautiful girls...you must be proud.
I see about $10,000 worth of braces (past and present)...been there, done that!
Yeah, it seems that braces are pretty standard anymore, and a they all offer 'financing'. Ugh. Of course my teeth could have used them, but braces were for those with serious problems back in the old days...but then again, we did not have shoes for school either.

This comment made me chuckle.
The two girls do have "beautiful smiles" (whether braces were used or not).
Nice shots! Window light is, imho, sometimes the BEST lighting. I look for good window light. If I can't find it, then I go for the strobes. But only if I don't have some good, clean light. Love the shot!
Thanks Deb...agree, mother nature is the best light! Interesting that the AWB did not work well on this. The pink walls behing them may have thrown it off. Ended up shifting to a WB that was roughly a 'cloudy' temp. Will remember to shoot a gray card next time with window light!
