p.1 #1 · Post processing effects

Hi,

I recieved the Aqueducte.08 catalog for the 2008 Afocer salon and I am intrigued by the processing effects used on some of images. They are strong images to start with, but the processing technique makes them outstanding (imho).

Has anyone any idea how it done?

For those that did not enter this salon, the link below has some of the images. In particular, the first 4 images in this gallery

Just a guess, but I have seen similar images produced with Photomatrix.

Looks like a combination of Lucisart and a Dragan effect. You can find lots about both through Google.

I think the PP make them look like crap and a half!

WAY over processed, halos everywhere, heavy saturation levels, splotchy uneven and unnatural tones, even the B&W's are ruined. etc. These are very common processing techniques these days (for some weird reason) so it's not even unique. To me it almost spells "Beginning PP enthusiast". Additionally the composition is very "uncomfortable". Fail. Oh Well, just my opinion.

The last 8 in the series are pretty good tho!

Thanks Guys,

A search for the Dragan effect turned up some stuff that looks interesting and I'll give that a go.

Its amazing how two people can look at a set of images and have such completely different opinions :-)

Thanks everyone for the pointers and opinions!

What? You didn't like the last 8 images in the set?
