This one's not so tricky, but still differentish. Just a really slow pan with a wide angle (24mm on ff). I still kinda like it:

This one's a little different, but same concept as a lot of other pics on here. Shutter of 15 seconds or so, then spinning the camera during the last 1-2.

Both on a 5D.

I'll just say that the trick is, that it's not what it appears to be.

what do you think it looks like, and what do you think it actually is?

Here's some liquid shots. Of course the only main "trick" is in the timing.

Some fun shots from Avila, Spain. Not super tricky.

Thank you all for the wonderful compliments.

Michael, I love that spinning the camera one.

Brent, those liquid shots look amazing.

There's some real creativity and awesomeness in this thread!

Ditto ... very well done Brent - would be curious how the coffee mug was being poured. Did you crop out your fingers in post-processing?

I doubt it very much. Something will be attached to the bottom of the cup so it can be held and poured from a distance I suspect?

I'll play too. This was inspired by Ariel's awesome photos. Hadn't tried a smoke shot before, and had fun with it.

And the relatively quick 2-min setup I used to produce it... 580EX at left, reflector at right.

Floating orbs of light. Just added a single handheld flash into a completely lit shot and walked across and flashed it during a long exposure.

That's beautiful jes. I just love the way this tecjniqe really brings out color. It's like performing a heavy saturation adjustment in-camera... I like to think of it as "painting with the scene".

Does it still count as a "trick shot" if the subject tricks the photographer?

I use the top-most AF point for this, aiming high for faces.

This image is titled "Ducking under the AF point."

Reminds me of Mario Galaxy. Someone on the forums once had a whole bunch of these.
