p.1 #1 · To Shop or not to Shop

It would be interesting to see how much time (if any) most of us spend in Photoshop getting our images to look the way they do. We have some friends that spend up to 130 hours per wedding in Photoshop on post (and their stuff is amazing!), while others we know (including us) who spend about 2 to 3 hours in Lightroom per wedding and only get into Photoshop to touch up skin for a wedding album if need be.

So post a shot (if there is a good deal of Photoshop, show us the before and after), tell us what you did in detail, and your thoughts on Photoshop vs doing most of the work in-camera. Also tell us why you prefer one over the other.

Here is a recent shot of ours from a lighting and composition workshop that we hosted with Evan Baines here in Nashville. This was slightly adjusted in Lightroom by bringing up some of the vibrance of the skin tones and that is it. The rest of of the work was done with lighting and shooting it the way we wanted it in-camera.

I'm in the same boat, I'm pretty much completely with LR only, which has saved me SO much time in my post workflow. Here's a quick before and after with 2 "Presetopia" presets:

BTW, where's your before/after shot of the above photo??

I don't have great shots to post, but I'll dig some up. I'm a fan of getting it right in camera. I'm a LR user, but I still take a long time for weddings (the time is lost in cropping and going through the photos). I can't imagine taking hours in PS, so my goal is to get it right using lighting, correct exposure, and possibly even White Balance (I shoot raw, so I don't *have* to get WB right in camera...)

Way to pimp it out Spence! Don't think I didn't notice that. The only thing I do in Photoshop is sharpen unless there's some major maintenance needed.

Here's one using my 'Hofftopia' presets ...

We're suppose to process them TOO!?!?

Depends on the wedding. Sometimes they fly and sometimes it's tweak city.

First wedding took forever. Now, if I can get some solid time in, I'm looking at about 5-10 hours total, Bridge/CamRaw and PS.
