I'm finally getting around to picking up a CPL for my 16-35II and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to either a B+W MC slim or a Heliopan SH-PMC but if there are any other suggestions I'm all ears (I'd like to keep it at or under $200). Also, would I be correct to assume that a standard Kaeseman MRC CPL will cause additional vignetting on the 16-35? TIA.
The only other option is the new HD CPL by either Tiffen or Hoya, but I'm not sure if they are slim. They are 2/3 stop brighter at maximum effect than standard CPL's.
Otherwise F-Pro B+W MC is my choice, much better built than Hoya and brass rings don't bind.

HD filters wouldn't be so bad if they weren't $300. I had looked at them, but I have a problem paying that much for a filter...I believe in good quality and results but I also believe in moderation Thanks, Whayne

Wow, didn't know they were that much. I knew they were dearer but like $200 instead of $150.
For that price you can get a Singh Ray LB CPL.
BTW I get my B+W filters off ebay from HK powerseller at much cheaper prices than US stores.
I have a B+W MRC KSM CPL 77mm and I also like it - good build, good performance. I use it with a crop body on my 17-40L and 28-70L (and sometimes with an adapter on my 70-200 4L) so no need for a slim.
You do know that CPL + wide angle doesn't work well, right? Especially on FF. Unless you're going for that effect in your shots, I don't know that you'll be doing much shooting at the wide end with any CPL and you may therefore have no issues. I'm not sure if vignetting would ever be an issue FF with the larger 16-35 II or not... I thought that was one of the points of the increase in diameter for the mark II...
Maybe you should try to borrow a CPL for a day to try to see if it actually works for what you want to do on your 16-35 II.

Only really an issue on clear blue skies IMO. If you have good cloud formations (not overcast) it's a must to use a CPL and brightness variations aren't noticed. Also for scenes without sky but say with foliage of plants, the CPL dramatically improves saturation and contrast by reducing glare.
