Well, I started just this year, in January roughly, so I do not have a full year yet. But, I suppose this is close enough. I know over the last few months I have become much more comfortable with lighting, to the point that I feel comfortable experimenting with it, rather than just trying to figure out the basics. More of my shots are looking the way I imagined them when I framed the shot, which is amazingly rewarding. I am far from where I want to be, but I am having a blast along the way, which is, in my opinion, the most important thing.

After looking through this thread again, I noticed that out of all the posts, I do not see much change or improvement in your shots from last year to this. Perhaps the nice folks of this forum could maybe focus some attention to helping Tom out a bit in this regard

... Just in case it was not apparent, the above was meant as a joke. Tom, I have not personally responded to your posts before, but I must say your photos, to put it bluntly, slay me. Every shot that I have seen is, in my opinion, perfectly crafted, and I must say that they have inspired me personally over the last few months as to my approach to taking photos in general, macro or otherwise. The one thing I think makes your photos stand out is just simple composition... of course they are wonderfully detailed, with fantastic light, but it is always the composition of your shots that truly amazes me.
Tough to find a decent shot for this year since there was so much new construction down at the lake. This last frame is my personal favorite from this year, shot at about 2.5x. It took me at least ten minutes to convince her that it was OK for me to hold onto the grape vine that she's perched on -had to so I could rest the lens on my hand as well to keep everything steady (shooting on a windy day as usual):

Thanks Jason , Most of my work stopped changing in the 3rd year ,after that it all looks the same from a technical standpoint , I do keep trying to better the comps though. I'm glad you find inspiration from them , that just means I've done my job. Your too kind, but I thank you. I wish I had more from this year and last but both years were not good for macro , for me at least.
