try it outdoors from more that 30ft and see if it works so good.
They haven't been released yet as far as I know but the manual has the usual warnings of RF interference, specifically from the 430 and 580 II. As I will be buying them soon (pair of flex's) I'm glad I still own an original 580ex, hope it's better. If not I'd bet that 550's are pretty cheap these days and if it's a slave flash anyway and you're doing all the settings from on camera I can't see a reason why not...
