The 5D smokes the MArk2 in everything the guy is interested in except for fast focus. I think IQ is what the OP is most interested in, and between the 5D and Mark2, It isn't even a contest. And its not like the 5D's focusing is all that bad anyways if you are using center point.

I agree. That is what I said in my initial reply. But his third criteria was "af". He just bought a long tele for birding.

Well, I'm going with the 5D. From the sounds of it center point AF will work for what I'm doing and the image quality sounds best.
