will this lens meter on a d700/d300?

i found an awesome deal on one in almost mint condition. but if it doesnt meter then im just gonna save a few more pennies and get the 50 1.2 ai or ais

Be sure it has an AI aperture ring before you mount it! Else, you'll break the little plastic pin on the camera. Pre-AI lenses is easily converted to AI spec though, so if the deal is good, shoot!

the lady said it is a 55 F1.2 S AI so i am assuming it is good to go.
