I ordered LR2 for 98$. I am currently a student at an online University. While there are criteria for purchasing, I think that if you do meet those criteria, what you do with the product is then your business.

Of course you can do what you want with it, but, doesn't mean it's intended for commercial purposes.

Good point. My daughter started homeschooling last year and we've already run into this.

From the UK Adobe site (BTW-Could not find this on the US site):
"Student question

“What happens after I graduate? If a new version comes out that I want to buy, do I have to buy the full new retail version or can I save money and just buy the retail upgrade?”
Answer

You are able to continue to use your Education version serial number when you leave school to upgrade to future commercially priced versions if you want to, rather than having to buy the next “full” version. So you save money now while you are a student, and also after you graduate!"

Very cool, just what I needed. Anyone know if it's the same for Adobe USA?

Thank you. It wasn't Adobe software she's been using, but I'll check out the TOS. If it isn't the same maybe a call to customer service will provide some leeway.

I bought my software last week, both CS4 and LR2, directly through Adobe. $100 for LR, $300 for CS4. Why not go directly to Adobe ?

I must have missed this, I'd love to see it though so I can know for myself.

Go to Adobe's site and read the TOS. I did, and could find absolutely nothing about how the software is used. Adobe's big hangup is copying the software.

As for upgrades, I don't do it often. I'm still using PS7 and don't really care if I upgrade anytime soon. I can still run KK's actions, so it's really no big deal for me.
