p.1 #1 · A MUST READ chasseur d'images tests

hi

just finish reading my chasseur d'image.

they tested lenses with body and display the result. as you can imagine the same lens used on a 10D can be good and terrible on a 1DS...the result are almost what i expected.....except when i looked at the nikon part....the contrast of the nikon lenses are less than impressive compare to the canon's one....or even sigma one for some.
if you can buy a copy of the mag do so it is a must have.

this month issu was on wide angle zoom...next month tele zoom and after that primes....

it is really a MUST read

vigneting : good from 5.6 before that can be notice.
chromatic aberation : some but discreet
distortion heavy from 15 to 20 but nothing inusual for a wide angle.
quality very sharp from 5.6 to 11 but diffraction kicks in after F11

this is the kind of info you have plus a lot of graphics for each focal lenght for CA , sharpness , distortion (3 graph ) , vigneting.

even if you don't speak french the graph are easy to understand so i advise you to buy it....

Seems interesting... Actually I usually prefer Réponse Photo for quality, but I have seen their announcement for the lens test and I was curious... I'll certainly buy it later today...

I wonder if they prefer the 17-35 to the 15-30 from Sigma... It seems that French magazines prefer the 17-35 while the whole world stated since long that the 17-35 is crappy and the 15-30 was a fortunate error :-)

Chris, there are 2 versions of the 17-35 sigma, the older one is crappy, the new one seems to be ok.

Did they compare the Tamron 17-35 and Sigma 17-35 by any chance?
