A self portrait at speed... kind of... I know we're not supposed to use more than a minimal amount of photoshop for the assignments, but my idea of me in my speeding truck rushing by all of you in your little cars was just about impossible to do for real, not to mention a little dangerous.

So I took liberty to use a couple of things to portray light speed...

David this is a great image. I think your touch of photoshop works well. I love the fact that you can still hold your coffee mug even at light speed

Sorin, maybe you can tell from my forearm the deathgrip I have on that mug! The wider base it has seems to aid in it's aerodynamic stability qualities somewhat too...

Thanks Chad, this is quite over the top for me usually with the 'shop work, but I felt it needed it in this instance. And I'm glad I thought of the mug, what trucker doesn't cherish his/her coffee?

I just wish I could have found a cowboy hat on short notice instead of the ball cap, oh well...

This is a sweet shot and glad you posted it. One of the strongest. One question for me however? Did you have to lean down the front end of the truck? Unless it was because you were going 200 mph, but I wish it was straight. Either way, this shot ROCKS!!

Steve, the lean came about as I was trying to correct the wide angle distortion I got from shooting upwards, but didn't like the result. The hood being straight just looked too big in relation to the rest. I also tried just a little lean to the left, barely noticeable, but the big square hood just stood out still. So I figured since I was going with a comic/cartoon look in colour and contrast I'd also give it some of that "bend" that cartoon cars have when speeding off, just for fun...

This is great! I love the expression, the coffee, the speed, the weird blue (like he's been driving through the night and dawn is breaking) ... great take on the trucking profession!
