I'm considering buying a 200 f/2 IS, but it's not widely available at retailers.
Anyone have any suggestions where to buy? For certain reasons, B&H is not an option for me.
Mostly, if I'm going to shell out like that, I'd like to make sure I'm not getting a return (not that likely anyway) and am getting the most recent date code I can.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
KEH Camera have them @ $5,199......I believe that's the Canon USA imported lens, but you'd need to confirm that.
Also, wouldn't hurt to mention to them beforehand that you will not accept the lens if the Canon box seal tape were to arive broken/tampered with.

Interesting... In my previous L-glass purchases, I've never seen a retail Canon box with tape sealing. Do you mean sealing on the probably brown box that would hold an inside box?
Sorry for the basic question.

Yes.....the Canon brown box for all supertelephoto sets holds the plastic moulded case with the lens. That brown box is sealed with an adhesive clear packing tape bearing Canon logo. That's the way the lens set leaves Canon and reaches retailers.
The retailers should place that Canon box into a cardboard overpack box, like with any other lens, when shipping to the purchaser.
Therefore, unlike the non-supertelephoto lens boxes which are not sealed, you should be able to tell if your 200 f/2.0 IS box had been opened for whatever reason ( a return ?) before it reached your hands.
Of all the brown boxed super-teles I've purchased not a single one was repackaged into another shipping box All were shipped in their original sealed canon brown box.
I got a 400 2.8L from KEH a few months back, the fedex ground guy got it all wet and the canon brown box sorta fell apart in one corner. : (

Interesting. I've bought four so far, all from B&H, and all were shipped in B&H overpack boxes.
