I agree with you that the 35AIS is not the greatest, but it is still a wonderful little lens that is lovely to shoot with. The 35L has much better glass, but i don't think it is worth the price.

Yes it has been posted before. I forgot, the nikon 4T close up lens was added for that shot. The extra glass affects the bokeh.
I think we all can agree then that for the price the 35 AI-S is a great lens with some drawbacks that are mainly because it is a wide lens...
I was thinking of trying the 35 1.4 Nikon but now not so sure. Any one have that and a Rokkor 35 1.8 to compare with? I have the Rokkor and it seems pretty decent though I haven't shot a lot with it yet. Also was thinking of maybe an Oly 35/2.
Depending on the price I really think that you should give it a try if you need a fast wide lens. It is a good lens and the drawbacks are mainly because of the FL.
