p.2 #1 · TS-E 24 mm lens with 1.4x extender and tubes?
GilW: Gil, thanks a lot for your excellent work and posting your photos here! Your photos are very convincing that the 1.4x extender works perfectly fine in the combination with your TS-E lenses and tubes. Thanks a lot again!
Adam Schallau: I checked out your photos of the leaf - great shots! Totally in line with Gil's work - the combination obviously works perfectly!
molson: Yes, but I already have a very good 105 mm macro lens and I cover the 90-100 mm focal length with some other lenses, too.

I've used the Kenko Pro 1.4X and the 24mm TS-E with excellent results.
I, too, was hesitant to use these two lenses together after reading Kenko's disclaimer. But I was in a bind during a photo shoot last year and needed the tilt/shift capability as well as the longer reach, so I gave the combination a try.
Everything turned out fine.
I've since tried the 1.4X on my 50mm f/1.4 and other shorter focal lengths, but not with the same good results as with the TS-E. In fact, things looked pretty bad when I used it with the 50mm f/1.4.

Excellent hint, Steve! That advice was exactly what I was looking for. So obviously the TS-E lenses seem to work very reliably together with an extender. It is also very interesting that you observed severe differences with the 50 f1.4 lens which I also own. Until now, I only examined the 50 f1.4 together with Kenko extension tubes for macros, which worked perfectly fine. Please post your results here when you have photos available showing those differences which you mentioned!

I actually think you would enjoy the 90 more for macro. I suspect that the 24 with TC and tubes will really give you a very short focusing distance. Plus the 90 is known to be sharper then the 24 which is pretty important form macro work IMO. However, You may enjoy quite a bit longer focus plane when stopped down with the 24, but quite wide.

I agree with you, Gil, and the longer focus plane/broader DoF is exactly what I intend to have with the 24 TS-E lens. I don't want to get high magnifications - for this I have much better and more suitable equipment.
