The full color bloom was still a week away in Aspen and the Maroon Bells area, on the weekend of Sep 20.
Still, for someone who hadn't been there, to repeat a phrase, I kept hearing myself saying "Oh, my!"
1) This aspen grove presented along the 3 mile long Maroon Creek Trail, from Maroon Lake to the shuttle pick-up down the road. A most enjoyable hike with Randy and Jill, my brother and niece.
2) The 3 of us, at an opening in the trail, offering another fantastic vista.
Lovely colours and delicate sidelight with that stand of aspens. Can't wait for some colour of that quality here ! Thanks also for the 3 beauty spots in the second picture ; and the view isn't half bad either !
Barry, the first shot is great man. Great grove of trees and the image makes you feel as though you're there. The 2nd, of your brother, niece, and you is terrific against a great bg. BTW are you standing in a hole?
Randy
The second shot is a wonderful portrait. I would love a shot like that of my son.
The first shot is absolutely wonderful. One of my favorite all-time Aspen shots. The perfect sky exposure with the trail speckled with light and shadow make this an outstanding shot.
Thanks very much, everyone! I appreciate you letting me show the family outing. I don't get to visit my brother and his family very often, so it was special for me. Randy, I'm off the downhill edge of the trail Tim, you're so bad!! Doug, I'm considerding that family of filters, so thanks for the look. Sharon, all you need is a tripod and the camera's timer!!
Your brother and his daughter look like nice people. I always have to smile to see a young teenager actually enjoying these wild places. It's SUCH a good way to live and appreciate.
Great shots, Barry. The aspens are simply superb, but the backdrop of the second photo is stunning, especially to someone who is surrounded by corn much of the year. That's a wonderful family photo, one to cherish for a long time to come.
Thanks fellas. Your comments mean a lot to me. Larry, I agree. I wish I lived closer to that country so I could partake more often! Dave, yeah, that's right Mike, it certainly was a special weekend.
Thanks, Andy. I hear ya. Down here it's rice and soybeans
Glad you enjoyed, and I will
