p.1 #1 · Big Green Bend - 2 panos

Since I mentioned these panos in my Autumn Umbrella post, I guess I will share them now. This is the Murray River seen from the Tumbler Point Trail on the outskirts of Tumbler Ridge in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. I really, REALLY wanted to get back here for fall colour, but unless the leaves hold out until this weekend, which is doubtful, I fear I'm outa' luck for this year.

15 vertical frames (yes, 15, probably twice as many as needed) to include the top of the undercut embankment I was standing near, merged in photoshop photomerge. The curve of the embankment is exaggerated because of the pano merge, but I don't mind how it turned out, other than I wish more was showing in the middle. This would have meant backing up to include though, which would have lessened the amount of river showing below.

Same spot, just a little later on the hike back out, and also 4 horizontal frames shot and merged top to bottom, as at full wide (17mm x 1.6 crop) I could not include both the clouds and the near riverbank in the same frame. Probably could have done this with 2 frames, but the more the merrier, right?

As always, C&C gladly welcomed!

I really like it. It is like a "Horseshoe Bend" in an alpine setting. I also like the clouds which helped create shadows so that the subject is not drenched completely in light. The shaded areas have more interesting color.

Hey David,

Very nice! Good work on these. For me I really like #1, the view out of it is awesome. And the foreground curvature looks fine to me.

Sweet, a horseshoe bend with trees . Good job on the first one, my only small nit-pick would be to include a tad more sky on the top so the tree on the right side wouldn't end on very top of the picture.

Both are good David, but the first is terrific. Amazing work with that many frames. Another one that should be hannging from a wall.

Thank you all immensely for looking and commenting!

Craig & Milan, "Horseshoe Bend is exactly what I first thought when first seeing this, and what I wanted to call it, but decided against to alleviate any possible high hopes... But I guess I could have called it Green Horseshoe Bend...

Milan, I agree about the top of the right tree topped off. That frame does actually include the treetop, but was clipped during the crop after merging . If I stretch the image using Edit>Transform>Warp like I did with my Autumn Umbrella pano instead of cropping, I can fix it, though, thanks for the kick in the pants about it!

Thanks again all,
David
