My information isn\'t much different than the above: my business buys a lot of gear and I have standing orders at a couple of large retailers that automatically puts me on the list for any new releases. I got all my 50D orders filled a week ago with no problems but both retailers have called to tell me I\'ll get 1 copy (of 6 ordered) from their first batch of 5DIIs - since they can\'t fill their reservation list their limiting to 1 per customer, which is fair.
One went into a bit more detail: they ordered 150 copies and will be getting 25, and have been told it will be 6 weeks at least after the first shipment before they get the rest. They put another order in for 150 and where told that will be after the first of the year at best.
The part I\'m not certain I believe, sounds like BS, but might be true, is that there is an outside manufacturer for certain parts (not sensor) that is not able to supply the quantity they promised to Canon.
