Saw this bobcat positioned itself for the kill. I sprinted to get myself into the clear but didn't make it in time. I could only watch the kill sequence through the leaves and twigs. Ended up with the usual butt shots...Sorry for the blown highlight. It was a hot sunny afternoon.
Thang, you have got this guys number, wow! I would love to have these butt shots but I do realize your frustration. Keep at dude, you are the king of this beast.
you do seem to have them all figured out. Boy are you lucky. Now, I have to tell you..... I want the shots of the bobcat in the water next time. Enough of them only being wet.
Boy you have this one pegged Thang. Can feel your frustration in not getting there for the kill but the way you and this bobcat are going I think we will see one soon. Were you using a 100-400 for these?

Thang,
Or should we start calling you Beast Master... Great shots again.

Thanks Tim and Tim. Don't think I deserve that title yet. Still working on the quest.

Martin - yeah, they were taken with my 100-400 IS and it was my first day out with this lens too.

Congratulations

Will try Lil. Given my limited amount of time for photography these days, yes, I do consider myself to be very lucky with these bobcats.

Another super capture of the kitty, Thang! You're sure getting close to the kitty grail shot and I have no doubt you're going to get it some day
Ken
thanks Ken. it's getting tougher for THE shot b/c the kittens are about to be on their own now...

Thang -
Are you hiding any more images in your closet or drawers?
- Ken
You want to see more butt shots? I have a draw full of those.
Thang, try the 'new' camera, it will bring you luck! I never saw a duck-headed bob cat before, that is a wild looking scene buddy! Counting on you to pull out your killer keeper shot man Cool shots.

Karl - took it out last weekend but didn't get much action. But so far, I like my 'new' camera very much. Still learning how to use/rely on the center AF point for BIF as I have been spoiled by the 1d2 45-AF point area.

Too bad you didn't catch the actual kill, but still nice shots
Eye contact makes for wonderful shots but also breaks the scene a bit.
Nice series
Thanks. Yeah, that was the 2nd time I missed the actual kill. Hopefully, the 3rd will be the "charm".
"A hot sunny afternoon" --- I think I've been there! (Many a time) Well, at least there's more than the Bobcat family at SJWS otherwise I would have wilted for nothing. You know Thang, you should seriously think about doing a Bobcat photobook through one of the self-publishing sites. You've really gotten an amazing variety of looks to the Family. And all I want is just ONE...
Once again, awesome shots of the bobcat family. #5 is too darn cute. How is it that you are finding them so regularly? They probably know your scent now and are use to you. . Any advice on where and when to find them?
