just took a bunch of pics of my friends band Pinsky, they are from Portland, ME. first time taking band photos and first time outdoors with my new alien bee. i must say i am very happy with how most of them came out. this is the first i processed, ill probably post more eventually. any feedback appreciated
The metal bar is way too distracting for my tastes in #1. But #2 is really cool, and with a little PS wizardry, can turn out really super cool and groovy. I like the lighting on both.
2nd shot is the best and I think it looks right the way it is without any gimmicky effects. last one is ok but the letters behind them are too distracting and overall exposure looks a tad bright. The first shot doesn't work for me with the beams running through the shot.
ehh, not what i was going for at all. i chose not to go over the top with the photoshop. just wanted them to have some nice 'pop' to them without looking unnatural.
for the lightning, i used a single b800 with a translucent white umbrella, using the white side to bounce the light. i bought a medium softbox too but i haven't used it yet
That looks sooooo bad. Wow. It honestly looks like you spent about 5 minutes desperately trying to learn how to get the "Dave Hill Look" and you came across a terrible tutorial showing you how to do it in 3 easy steps. It doesnt work on any photo because its not at all what Dave Hills photos look like.
Can you not see how terrible this looks when added to this or any photo? I just dont get it. I dont understand how anyone could look at that and think "Sweet, this is the final product. It is exactly the look I was going for". You made the two guys in the middle look like they were punched in the face prior to being run over by a truck. The guy on the right now looks like he has greasy skin with terrible uneven tones.
I really do not get it. Do you really think thats a good look? Maybe its time you re evaluate your PS skill.
