I use the 220EX, and get good results, and am hesitant about using a non-Canon flash on the hot shoe as it could possibly damage the body.

Thanks, really useful info.

I always use flash off camera, but it is very ideal to have an ultra compact one in addition on camera, and particularly it can bounce. Does its i-TTL expose correctly and reliably? I found there is no "MANUAL" mode. Any use experience?

I wonder why Canon can't make something like the Nikon SB-400 which is about this size.

Was this posted yet? A early preview/review? or whatever you would call it of the 5D II with some ISO shots at the bottom (they show ISO12800 and 25600!). They sound super enthusiastic about the camera... which could be annoying for some but it seems genuine.

Yes it was. But I don't expect everyone to know or check through the almost 90 pages here!

Awesome. Ordered me a Sunpak too. Was wondering if there was something for those "hmm not sure if I want to carry my 580 EXII with me today" moments. Awesome. This'll be ace on my 5D II.

Thanks for the pictures bobbytan!

He's saying this "review" felt more like marketing material/ paid commercial.

What's so hard to understand? That's his opinion and it's perfectly valid.

Do you think comments like this betray it's presumed objectivity?
" We haven't been able to sleep just thinking about the possibilities and where we can take this."

Can we really take this seriously?

Ironically, neither Canon or Nikon make their flash units. They are manufactured to their specs by either Hitachi or mitsubishi (I forget which company).

I always use my flash in manual mode too. Here are 3 shots with the XTi in manual mode, bounced off a low ceiling, with the flash in eTTL mode .... at 0 compensation .... plus a half stop .... and plus a full stop of additional exposure. I find that it tends to under-expose by about half a stop in Auto. Extremely easy to increase or decrease exposure. As expected, the flash is not powerful even compared to the EX 220 but it works well indoors in smallish rooms, and perfectly adequate for flash fill outdoors. I am glad

Try this eBay merchant in Hong Kong:

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=sunpak+rd2000&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Price is a bit higher though. BTW, Brainiac ordered one from a UK store for £70.

Do you need it right away? I suspect that demand is so high that everyone is backordered.

I usually prefer to wait a month or two before ordering a new design. Problems get fixed in the second or third production run.

Interesting. I didn't see it as a review, as much as a "hey, we had our hands on it and this is what we thought from the POV of people who use these things in real life".

Also factor in that it was written by people who quite clearly don't write for a living. (Well, as a journalist, that's what it looked and read like to me.)

I thought it was useful, especially the images.
