you guys think it would be weird to use a 430 + 580 on one light stick? any foreseeable problems? sick of using the crappy canon wireless flash system.

Hey, whats that splitter called that you can hook two flashes into one PW?
It's a Y-adapter. Radio Shack and most other stereo, electronics, and audio/visual shops should have them.
Make sure you get the mono-to-mono type. The stereo ones have a different type of female connector, designed for a male plug that has tip, ring, and sleeve contacts, whereas the PWs and PC connectors on the strobes only have tip and sleeve contacts.
I've never tried it with stereo connectors, but I'd be worried about short circuits, and I see that another FMer above said also not to do it.
I've used a stereo Y many times with cybersyncs and no problems at all. However, I had it lying around. If you're buying one just for this use, get the mono, it's cheaper anyway. Here you go, should be in stock at most Radio Shacks: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103422
