p.1 #1 · MB-D200 Grip Shutter Release Issue

For about the past year my MB-D200 shutter release hasn't been working properly. It will autofocus fine, but when I push the shutter release button the rest of the way, nothing happens. Obviously the shutter release works fine on the D200 as well as through my wired remote. It started by not working just sometimes, then it slowly got worse and worse until now where it just doesn't work at all.

I haven't been able to find any others with this problem...but I'm wondering if there are any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions.

Check the contacts between grip and the body, they made need a touch of cleaning. Don't go overboard, this is one of those tasks where less is more.

I would use denatured alcohol. Although a gentle rub with a pencil eraser can do as well. Note, I said gentle. You might want to check to see if any of the spring loaded pins are function properly. Also check the release button lock is moving as far as it should. Beyond that, you may need to send it in for evaluation.
