Had some time to kill following a consult so I did some self portrait stuff in the new studio. 48x26 softbox with long side laying horizontal, 120J behind me with standard parabolic reflectors and a small barn door set that attaches around the rim to cut down on spill, 85 1.8 @ 4.0, 40D. 'Pop' the collar... toss on some dark glasses... add some cheese and viola!... boring old guy pictures.
Sorry. You have all the space behind you in most of them. It normally looks better (not just tradition) to have room in front of the subject rather than behind.
