Are you kidding? As soon as it's released there's a whole new growth industry in comparisons, photos of walls, kittens, pretty & not so pretty girls, gripes, complaints, laments about what was left off, comparisons (favorable & con) with Nikon, Sony, player to be named later, speculations as to price deflation, impact on prices of other models, speculation on responses from competitors (pro & con), assessments & reassessments of the wisdom of the upgrade from 5D, nostalgia trips related to the 5D, fierce defense of 5D's continued relevance, comparisons to the relative advances vis a vis the 50D ...
I could go on but I'm guessing you get the idea. ...Show more →
Yes, that's an incisive analysis of the stuff fora like this one are made of.

no then we will have the onslaught of pics of rulers, beer cans, flies on beer cans, flies drinking the beer, brick walls, cats on brick walls(ok I like cats)that will slide, batteries,a chart here and a chart there, comments"is this 35L sharp it was on my 5d"?,comments like "triying to take a picture of a black cat in a coal mine""what is the best iso for this?damn a hot pixel already...sending this crap back to canon...
Midwest photo always has the wrong pictures in those magazines--it's weird. I'm interested to see what the price will be on old 5D's--more out of curiosity than desire (not really, I just can't afford one).
Regarding the popup flash: Why not have a mini flash or popup flash that slides into the hot shoe? Maybe needs a battery then, I don't know, but could still be almost as small and light as built-in flash. Or not?
Also, maybe we need a separate off-topic-waiting-for-new-rumors thread. I still think it will make sense for Canon to introduce multiple models (besides the 50D), that doesn't mean Canon will, but we seemed to have more good rumors than fit in one model.
Japanese cars sell better then German cars ONLY because they are affordable and provide excellent gas millage. People drive Honda's not because of their extra features. I'm sure if the majority could afford to drive an M series they would be doing so. Your point is moot.
I had Merc 350S and in the first three years it had to go to the garage 16 times for various problems. I have now gone to a Japanese vehicle and and in 2 years its only been to the garage twice for routine service.
japanese cars, cameras and electronic goods are top sellers in the world today. tomorrow it will be china. when i first spoke of a 80-200 F2.8 in the early 8os, my colleagues laughed. then i first suggested that the 5D replacement may be 21MP, and it's highly ilkely to be or MORE, few find it hard to believe.

Isnt this called "homebound"?
But japanese companies always "learnd" from german ones. Last given example from Canon: 1D AF issue

Dare I say that you have a very american attitude? Japanese cars in the _entire_ spectre does not stand back compared to german cars in any way. German cars were once quality cars and leaders of the industry, but today? You have more exclusive japanese, italian, french even swedish cars, you have better day-to-day workhorses from japan, you have way more fun small, speedy racers from japan.. I don't know what you base your quite prejudical opinions on japanese cars on
Not sure how we came to be talking about cars, I suspect the tension of awaiting the 5D Mk2 announcement is sending us all nuts.
For the record, I go on photo outings in my Toyota with my Canon outfit. That car is the first I've ever owned where after 1 year I can honestly say NOTHING has gone wrong on it. even though it was built in France . If Toyota ever start building DSLRs you can sign me up straight away.
After waiting for nearly a year for the 5DII replacement, I have been dissapointed so many times. I almost don't belive it's coming!
I am so excited and glad for the wait. The current specs look as awsome and unbelivable as the original 5d's specs looked 3 years ago.
The 5D was a legend (although a slow burn sucess) and I'm sure that it's replcament is going to have a simular impact. It's simply going to be the camera that we all aspire to own and use. It's going to redefine "fine art" and high quality photography. 21mp will be the new 12mp...roll over D3/d700.
I think it's moved. I believe (could be wrong) that we'll see another migration each day until the entire body is visible around the 15th of September or so, coinciding with the full moon.
