I was hoping to log in here today and see that someone posted the announcement. Well someone could make something up...wait, that's what has been happening for 109 pages.
If this spec are true, it's because they will show another FF in february in PMA.
If this spec are thrue, i expect a lower price, to compete with the small Nikon D700
And a high 2k$ in february to compete with the Sony one.
But I hope, they will release a 24mp this fall to compete with the Sony at a comparable price.

That means Canon is giving up the high end to Nikon. Somehow I doubt it. Now, can Sep 17th just come! Its already nearly 1:30AM in Tokyo! Where's the announcement?
With wich existing or announced camera Nikon should be able to compete against a camera with the above given specs, "rsg"? Maybe you can explain your comment?
Anything on if it will be able to use EF AND EF-S lenes like the D700?
I would be very suprised if they come out with a FF camera that can take EF-S lenses. The "S" stands for "short back focus", which means the lens elements protrude further in to the mirror box (to get closer to the sensor.) This doesn't cause a problem on a crop camera since the mirror is smaller. EF-S lenses mounted on a FF camera could cause the mirror to hit the rear element of the lens (or come close to it.) They would have to either get rid of the mirror, or figure out a way to flip it up and down without hitting the lens element.

If the D700 takes EF lenses I'm sold!! I don't believe the 5D replacement will take EF-S lenses either. And that's the number one reason NOT to buy EF-S!!!

I think a lot of people here confuse the word "evolution" with "revolution". Those who wish for a compact full frame action camera will probably be disappointed.
Daniel
that wouldn't really be a revolution anyway since nikon has already done it with D300/D700.
I think teh canon would be even better if they were to do it, but they seem to have a thing against such a beast.

Exactly. The reason that the Nikon D3 and D700 can accept Nikon's DX lenses is that even though DX lenses only project an image that covers a 1.5x crop sensor (much like EF-S lenses), their back elements do not protrude into the body more than their FX lenses. So why did Canon decide to design EF-S lenses to protrude further into the body? I believe thinking at the time was that it would allow more flexibility in the optical design of these EF-S lenses. I very much doubt we'll see a FF Canon body capable of taking EF-S lenses unless they eventually get rid of the mirror.
Even where the D700 and D3 take the dx lenses, they take a real hit in terms of resolution - I believe dropping to 5MP. I don't see that as being positive.

Thats It
Pretty boring eh?
But I can be wrong
if you read into the hype of their evolution campaign you are wrong, but taking all that as marketing BS and some other hints you are quite possibly right.
a single digic would be hard pressed to get past 4fps and canon doesn't seem to wanna dare touch 1 series with 2 digics. One could hope they could've gone to 19pt AF or made it much better and one still can hope that the 9 pt is at least vastly better, even if it is 4fps, and that would be something, but it doesnt sound like it either, but anyway wait a few hours and see.
i'm still not sure why not raise price $300 and make everyone happy (at least aside from fps)? probably to save 1 series, but that could still be separated by 10fps vs.4-5fps.

None now. If Nikon comes out with a D4 & D800 by PMA next spring, it may be a different story. However, with specs like that, there is little incentive to upgrade at a cost of $3,000 USD. Might as well pony up for the 1DMkIII or IV. Its just a couple of thousand more?
