NOW that we're starting to have video and external HDDs on DSLRs, let's get turn by turn directions, a touch screen, an organizer, a radar/laser detector, a walkie-talkie, a shock absorber to protect the internal components, a sat phone with a dish built into these DSLRs for INSTANT uploads, a kevlar shell with titanium underneath to stop bullets, shrapnel, and debris that may be flying at you. THAT would be THE ULTIMATE toughcamera!!!

or better a coffee maker..

the video option would be nice IMO, but then again, i bought the camera to take pictures so i'd be looking for good IQ than added features. Anyways I'ts always nice reading some threads here in FM..

As camera processors get faster and FPS increase it's not going to take much to have DSLRs make video. Are DSLR makers going to artificially suppress a feature that almost adds itself to the camera? Why would they do that?

Great, so there's one less person who's not going to buy the 5D replacement. Cool, there's always the current 5D to keep some people happy. And cheap too.

For how long is continuous video recording possible with D90? Live View usually switches of after a few minutes because of overheating. With my video camera I can take video for hours without break.

Well, "need" is kind of subjective thing these days but Nikon is clearly assuming that a lot of people will jump at the chance to use their high quality (D)SLR lenses to shoot (HD) video. As a number of people have observed, now that they've done it, others will follow. In other words, you're likely to get video in your DSLR whether you need it or not!

Might've missed the point of my post: 3038 Photos in 3 days

Well, if you were going to be ironic it would help to have been a little more pointed about the need to follow the link you attached!

Yes, I would be happy to have a good quality video mode with sound in my DSLR. Why not? If you don't need it don't use it, but for family holidays and events it sounds great.

I'm never going to buy a professional video camera, so to have one effectively given to me, allowing me to use my existing interchangeable lenses sounds wonderful.
