I shot this in color and then converted to B/W instead of shooting in B/W right in the camera. All comments telling what I did right or wrong would be appreciated.

Not the most exciting subject. Not sure but it looks if you've blown the highlights in the sky area. Try it at a different angle with evening or early morning light, maybe that might work. I'm not sure if it's really suitable as B&W subject. You need some textures, soft shaddows or reflections that kinda thing. IMHO.
