I will start my SD14 conversion project to EOS mount next week. I am waiting for the spare Canon mount to come.
Do you think its better to do the conversion to my older SD9 first? Just for practice and measures ?
I wouldn't even mess with the SD9, it's a nightmare to work on.
The SD14 is much easier to dis-assemble, no de-soldering required.

How did you get the Sigma electronics to talk to Canon lenses? That's quite impressive.
Not really...The SA and EF mount share the electronic protocalls, and registration distance which makes it relatively easy to convert EF lenses to SA mount so they can be used on Sigma DSLR's. AF and AA functions are retained but currently not the IS function.

Interesting.... if this can be done without issue, I would definitely be interested in changing out the Sigma SA mount over to EF mount and use it instead of a 30D body....

Can you explain the benefits? What is this foveon sensor that was mentioned?

Have you been stranded on a desert island for years?...Try the sharpest digital sensor in the world and still the only one able to resolve detail down to a single pixel.
Hi all, I am a newbie here. This topic really excite me so much. I have so many questions about the modification and want to take some advice from all of the experienced user here.
I just want to know what is the best solution of utilize this amazing camera.
Is it easy to mod the SA mount to EF mount without the electronic parts?
I owned a mal-function EOS-3 and have enough parts for convertion. Just wonder
that may the case need some modification to fit in?
Since I am not interested in the IS system of canon lens and neither the sigma lens, I think convert the camera into EF mount can use plenty of the adapters such as M42 to EOS, F mount to EOS, Leica to EOS, etc. If it is easy to archieve, it should be the most economic solution.
Please feel free to comment on this concept. Thank you!

Hi Paul,
Installing an EF mount in a SD14 is not easy, even when the electronic parts are not changed.
The case will need to be modified for the relocated lens release button.
I agree that the $350 SD14 is a bargain as far as image quality is concerned.

Trying to resurect this thread. Would like to use the Sigma SD Quattro with either Canon tilt/shifts or with Sony E lenses. Anybody currently doing this, or can be persuaded to? I realize it isn't easy or cheap and am fine with that. Thanks.
