I got 8 AA's from Ebay and shot a wedding with a set in my 580 and they went strong the WHOLE day with 70% of the 1200 shots taken where with flash pumped to about +1EV
What's the link to the seller on ebay? How much and did it include a charger?
Thanks.

I've read a few reports that say the eneloops hold a charge longer, but also take longer to recycle between shots. No idea if that's true, but probably, so factor that into your particular needs.
IF true, then personally I'd rather carry an extra set & have the speed. -but it would be good to see a careful, independant test.
The great thing about Eneloops is that they don't lose charge when not used (well, they don't lose very much of it to be accurate). As a consequence, you can charge and forget.
And I can also vouch for the LaCrosse Charger. You can choose to charge fast or slow.
In the US, you can do just as well from thomas distributing on the eneloops. they also include a coupon for an additional 5% off on your next purchase in your shipment.

In my experience, the Eneloops recycle every bit as quickly as other brands.
