p.1 #1 · For Lil + a couple more....

Had I known Lil was such a horse lover, I would have posted these earlier. These horses roam wild on the Outer Banks above Corolla, in NC. Some years ago they moved them all to their present location because they were being hit by cars. A fence was put up from The ocean side to the sound side with cattle guards where there is access.
These horses have been here since the late 1600s - I'm not 100% sure, our guide was kinda flaky. They are smaller than most horses and have one less vertebrae. They come to the beach to get away from biting flies, but if you look close at the "laughing" shot, you can see a fly a few inches below the eye.
Anyway, these are for you Lil....

This one seems to have lost a little sharpness?

And two shots I found interesting although not great shots. The first is a clapper rail running back to the nest with what looks like a shrimp for the chicks. The second shot is an ibis with a small snack, (much more of a crop than I would like).

Ron,

I just caught this....

They're wonderful - - they truly express the harmony of a horse & horses. Peaceful & safety to me. A place of harmony, joy, & contentment.

A place of completeness.

# 2 - - the softness adds positively to the shot to me - - sharp would have "distracted" from the "feel" of the shot.

Love them all & the Ibis with a crab that large - - hilarious. Better break that up.

I love these Ron - - I started riding when I was 5 years old. My father bought my sister & I a three year old thoroughbred filly off the race track heading for the slaughterhouse for the slaughterhouse price when I was 7. He thought that would be cheaper than driving us to the barn & riding school once a week - - little did he know. When I was 13 I started competing in Grand Prix style show jumping & competed & rode until 20. Then I took about 15 years off being a mom etc. 1996 we bought a small ranch within L.A. County and I got back into full time horse ownership. I've since changed discipline to Dressage & competed up to high level with my current horse Destined a now 17 year old Warmblood. I also have a small 44 1/2 inch tall American Shetland stallion I show in hand.

Thanks - - I love these

Lil

Nice Ron, did well on putting feeling in these horse shots. I am the opposite of Lil, no very little about horses but know when I see some nice pics of them! I like your shot of the Clapper on the run, Ibis has quite a snack in the works

Ron, I don't much about horses, but I know what I like. I really like the intimacy of these images - the closeup of the face, mother and child, an all-around great look and feel to these. Okay, I just went back to look at the horses and read Karl's comment. He wrote about the same thing I'm writing but he beat me to it. Kinda creepy The crab looks like a mutant

Great horses Ron. There is a great feeling to these images, power, beauty and nature. The ibis with the crab made me laugh.

Thanx Karl - I liked the clapper too, and I couldn't resist the ibis shot.

Thanx Kitehog - that's one of my favorites too.

Thanx Tim - I had parked my kayak because there wasn't enough water to "float my boat", and was walking around the edge of the salt grass when I saw 4 or 5 ibis in the distance. They wouldn't let me get close as I wanted - thus the poor quality, but that shot was too neat to not post.
