Got some decent shots from early this morning while Les, Monte and I were out shooting. The reddish was across the way from us and acting like an ADD patient off his meds. These birds have the most personality and energy of any birds I have ever seen. They run all over the place, rapidly changing direction for some other shiny object they catch a glimpse of in the water. I could just stand there and watch them for hours on end.
Interesting and entertaining behavior It appears as perhaps the first he is using his wings to block the sun's reflection on the water to see below the surface? That would be fun to witness, good for you!
glad you were able to witness the reddish this year Doug. Two of them have been around for about 3-4 years now. I haven't seen it in person since a year or so ago. Hope I will run into them this weekend.
