p.1 #1 · Video adapter and other advice please

I just ordered an Eizo Coloredge CG222W monitor. The computer knowledge area of my brain has atrophied since I haven't built one in several years. Anyhow, I still have an Intel 82845 mobo with on board video. The native resolution of the new monitor is 1680 X 1050. I think the monitor has a cable that will fit the Intel video port, but I need to get a new adapter to get the most out of this monitor because the only close resolutions the existing video offers are 1600 X 900 and 1600 X 1050. The mobo has PCI slots, and I think it has an AGP slot. Can you guys help me find a good graphics adapter? I don't do any gaming, just image processing. A lot of the image files are huge, so I guess I need a fair amount of RAM on the card. You can see the specs of the monitor at Eizo

Also, if you check the specs, could you tell me if my existing on board video will indeed work with this monitor between now and the time I get a new card?

Thanks,
Linda

Do you know whether it's AGP, AGP 2x, AGP 4x or AGP 8x?

If it's plain vanilla AGP, good luck finding a video adapter, at least a new one. If it's any of the others, my favorite source for computer parts is

The rate at which computers become obsolete makes this sort of a challenge. If you want to keep the mobo you might be very limited. The good news is that games require the latest and greatest, image processing not so much.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I set up the monitor on Monday, and the native resolution magically appeared on my resolution choices. This Eizo ColorEdge CG222W is absolutely amazing, especially after I calibrated it with a ColorMunki. And this is just with the Analog connection. I'll wait until I build a new computer after the first of the year to get a DVI adapter.

Thanks,
Linda
