The shutter unit itself is priced at $158.78. The labor to install it - $290.00.
I suspect kazman paid replacement cost only with no labor charges. Can't explain it otherwise.

I would say if your only at 100k clicks it would be considered premature. I think they are rated at 200k min. I would do some more talking Just trying to help

About 2 years ago, the shutter in my first 1d2 (2nd hand) failed at 67k clicks. Canon replaced it free of charge and I didn't even have to ask. Of course, that was two years ago. I am not sure what their policy is now aday.
Sorry to hear that Ken, the ill fated timing on this must be killin' you! Hopefully she'll be back in your arms before too long. You are putting out some excellent shots with the 500, good luck on a quick turn-a-round!
Hi Ken,
Sorry to hear about the shutter failure, but atleast it was doing what she loved to do up until the end. Very nice series thanks for posting them.
Ken, my sympathy for the loss of our shutter. My 40D did that back in April but Canon fixed it very rapidly. #1 and #9 are my favorites of this set, but they are all great.

Oh, I can feel your pain.. What, to be with such a great lens, and a dead camera. Oh, I can't believe it. Hopefully you will get the camera fixed in a hurry... you do have another camera don't you
I'll have Betsy back sometime next week. A whole darn weekend without her. I do have an XTi but it's just not the same

Did anyone else immediately think of "American Pie" upon reading the thread title? Now it's stuck in my head...
Excellent work here! My favorite of the series is probably #8. Something about the color really sticks out.
Ryan
Thanks Ryan, The color on the pond behind the duck really added to the presence of the duck in the photo. Would likely be quite uninteresting otherwise.
Bye, bye, Miss American Pie - I think my grandfather used to listen to that song

"Steve Wolfe"? I RESEMBLE that name... Yeah, it was quite a sight, you doing CPR on Betsy...Super images all Ken, and even the Marbled Godwit in-flight would have been a good 'un. Actually, you almost could have cropped the black part out...
Waiting for the Resurrection of Betsy,
Steve
Steve, you more than resemble that name.....
Betsy sure is going to recieve special treatment now that I know how fragile she is. Maybe I should treat her to a good old fashion floral shoot out at the flower garden. I think she might like that....

It is annoying is what it is, Doug I am going to give the 500 a go on the XTi this weekend. They say it's the photographer and not the gear that makes great photos. Let's see if I can pass the test

Thank you Garen. There's nothing wrong with her that a bucket of money won't fix

Hi Chris,
Gald to hear you had a favorable experience with Canon Service. I am hoping they will deliver early then I can agonize all next week waiting for the weekend so I can take her out and put her back to work in the field where she belongs
