Is anyone making a running $$ tally on this thread.?.. My self esteem is being helped greatly by seeing others that share my affliction. I am struck by how "perfect" most of the gear is. Does everybody wear kidskin gloves and nose cozy's when taking pictures?

I think most non-professional shooters baby their gear since it is a large investment and most does not make any money shooting. I baby the stuff that is hard to replace.
so this looks like the sigma dp1 but where is the sigma logo and the square external viewfinder as I have seen in all the other shots of it?...is this a modified /updated version?

most things look cleaner in photos than in real life (unless a harsh flash was used, then it can be the opposite!)
Here is one that managed to get the look of the lens fairly accurate to what it really looks like, in terms of how worn it looks. With out a flash, the lens looks much nicer than it really is.
But this is why you see all the old images of photographers in bowler hats! You take off your hat, place it over the lens, then make an ornate bow to your subject, and place the hat back over the lens. Its all about chivalry in the LF realm.
