I was thinking that around 15-17mm the vignetting would be gone on the 5D2. The bonus would be that I could use the Tokina on the 40D for more fisheye effect than I would see with the Canon 15mm.
Bingo! That's one of its best features, IMHO.
Wider than 15mm you'll start to get vignetting on FF, and wider than 12.5mm on 1.3x.
The vignetting isn't circular like the 8mm fisheyes, but rather a hybrid between round and rectangular where the petals block out portions of the fov.
Ariel - How do you think the Tokina would hold up to the 5D2? From what I have seen the Tokina image quality seems to be great! It is just hard to tell from web images. Thanks for the input!
Rachel, I'm guessing it'd be fine. I've never used it on a 5D2, but I've shot it on a 5D and a 1Ds2 and really enjoyed it on both bodies. Perhaps someone who owns that combination can tell us how the lens resolves on such a demanding body, but my guess is that it'd be a great combo.
Nice shot of St. Peter's (the honeymoon). Can you give some details on the rig used to shoot the cars? Presumably it's some sort of cantilevered extension from another car, hanging out in mid air and fired remotely? Or, maybe attached to the car being shot and then photoshopped out somehow?

This thread interested me. I do not have a canon fish eye lens, however I would like to show two of Manhattan taken with a 7 mm lens on a bronica. the images are on Ektachrome 120 mm slide film. Both images taken around 1977 from a helicopter, altitude about 2000 feet.
