i'm looking for a moderately priced tripod setup for occaisonal night and macro work. doesn't have to be fancy or super light, just solid and functional.
so i've done some looking at have been offered a couple of the bogen 3221wn with 486rc2 heads, mint used condition. in addition, i can buy a new 190xb with the same head for an additional $25...
i'd like to save the money but i'm wondering whether the new one isn't a better deal. basically the question is whether the 3221 is a better tripod than the 190xb or are they basically the same...in which case is it worth getting mint used to only save $25....thanks!!
The 3221, I believe, is the larger version, more like a 055 series these days, except it doesn't have the tilt post the 3021s did. It may also have different feet, perhaps the retractable point types?
The 3221 may be rated higher and is taller (you may want to try to track down the specs, just in case).. If you want the height to avoid needing to extend the center post, then 3221 may be the better choice.
