I have a good selection of lenses and a number of solid, reliable bodies... If I can't get the job done with what I have, I should reconsider what I'm doing...

I'll be done buying as soon as my wife finds out about my latest purchase!
Good luck with that...The camera hobby harder to sneak in under the radar than than my car hobby lol. Wifey doesn't see under the hood much and couldn't make heads or tails of it anyway so a go fast part can sneak in there like a ninjya. When a lens like a 12-24 comes in though, even her non camera type keen eyes can see that lens wasn't in the collection before...
Ehh, with the FM sell section for the nikon gear I have gotten, minutes meant the difference between victory and defeat. No time for clearance from the CFO sometimes, or its what I use as an excuse anyway. One of the greatest lessons I learned in the Marine Corps, better to ask for forgiveness than permission . Take some nice special pics and eventually she sees the light. My 12-24 was a goto for the day shots of her friends wedding. Bride very happy, friends happy with the nice group shots, wife happy.
Done within budget...but certainly not for the long-term. Really want a TS or two, the 200 2.0, and maybe even the 300 again. Many applications when the 400 is a smidge too long, too many when needed to let go of it. But cannot afford a 400 2.8, a 200 2.0, and a 300 2.8 all at the same time! Someday tho.
But can certainly get by with current collection and do all the time.
Past of it is as we get more into photography and realize the (albeit sometimes subtle) differences various pieces of equipment can make, we naturally want them. A little theory anyway, YMMV.
If I had $1 for each time I told my wife I'm done buying I could go and buy the 1DsMIII and then I'd really be done.
6 months? I think I went 6 months without a purchase after I bought the Canon G1 but since getting into dslrs I haven't been able to keep the wallet closed for more than 3-4 months. It's sad really.
I think I am just about done. Whatever gear is left out there I either can not justify on the basis of use vs $$, or do not trust its performance.
However, I am still thinking about the 200 f/2.0 IS....not convinced yet.
just when I thought I was done buying camera gear...I have this emergency-itch of buying a Mark II or Mark III now...geez !! I better ask myself again if I really need any of them. Helppppppp !!!
Update: Settled for a 20D as a backup for now.

Is there anyone out there who is not in the market for anything. With my recent purchase of a low click 1DSMK2 I would like to think I am. I have all the lenses I want, all the lighting equipment I need. I would like to think I am done. Has anyone here gone more than 6 months w/o buying anything?
I rarely purchase new equipment, but when I do I make sure that it will fulfill a specific need in terms of my photography. I've learned to avoid - or at least manage - gear lust.
