No other brands will work, because the Canon mount design has the shortest mount to film distance. Most other lenses can go on the Canon EF mount using adapters, but not the other way around.
So, one wonders why you would want to consider other brands of bodies, when you can get some very fantastic Canon film bodies that work perfectly and fully automatically at very reasonable prices. If you really want film, you can not beat todays bargans. I cringe at the price I paid for my EOS 3 when it first came out compared to what you can get one for now, but then I remember how fantastic it is to use, and how many in focus action shots it delivered, and I still think of it as one of the best cameras I have ever used, including my current 1D series and 5D.
