@Jim: is it necessary to include them all in your quote... That's a lot of scrolling.
That 800/5.6 certainly is a performer though, and Lars is making great use of it!
@Greg Feldman: I don't mind the little hexagons of the OOF flower so much, but I think the vertical and diagonal lines in the background are really ugly. They are completely regular, all in the same orientation, unlike natural foliage. I'd really prefer them to be round because then the orientation doesn't matter anymore (since circles are rotationally symmetrical).
Just as Makten I have bought myself a Samyang 85/1.4. Here are a few samples from the first time I brought it outside. The images are taken at an open for anyone open air photo exhibition called "The Plank", Gothenburg 090815.
Weather was grey, overcast and rain. All images are taken with the lens wide open:
Above: Photographer Mitsy Morel tried to attach an umbrella to the Plank (which the commuinty replaced with a metal fence during the last year) to protect her images from the rain.
I met the old man at Planket. Here he is checking out a couple of images he later commented as "Very colorful". The Samyang lens has been tested as being soft at the edges. I took two images of this situation having the old man at the right edge. Wide open, and I think it is sharp enough:
Above: Seven year young David Moberg was the youngest little entity to participate. He was happy to pose in front of his images (taped to Coke bottles he had hung in the fence).
Then I had walked the 150 meters of exhibition and found myself at the park Slottsskogen. The rain got a bit heavier. At the first footpath crossing I looked right and stopped to take this image:
Above: The young woman sat about ten, maybe more, meters away from where I stood. I focused and took the shot. Anyone more skilled in manual focusing would have remembered to compose the image better by taking a step to the right and lower the camera. I failed with that but think the image works anyway.
Well, that's it. I'm quite happy with the result from this first try. I think this lens will see more use!
