Took this as a test of a challenging subject. The lens behaves pretty good IMO.

This shot is about as low tech as it gets: instant "inspiration" and the lighting was kitchen cabinet lighting (below cabinets) with a chunk of maple, some tea stuff and a plastic tub of wheatgrass in the background. Shot with a Canon 5D and my "new" Super Takumar 50mm/1.4 wide open, hand held at ISO 320.

This little lens is fast becoming one of my favorites...

Nice!

When did you get it, Rachel? (and what mount is it?)

Thanks, Paul! This was my first time shooting it - I just got it this week from davidriver (Dave). It is a Canon mount. I also just picked up the Voigtlander 40 SLII in Nikon mount but haven't had time to try it out.

Rachel,

Believe me (as an owner of the lens), I know exactly how you feel about it.

Mine sat at my inlaws' house in Japan for 4 months before I got to try it, and my wife actually got to try it 3 weeks before I did. When I spoke to her after she first tried it her exact words were "Oh, Paul! I'm going to really love it on the 5D!"

Here's the first shot I ever took with mine:

Hey Paul,

I don't think I could have waited 4 months! Your posts, and a couple of others here, are what pushed me over the top. I do not have a ff body right now but I am getting the 5DII and now that I have these 2 Voigtlander lenses, the wait will be terrible!

Oh I want a 5DII as well. But... not for anything but the video feature, to be completely honest. The 5D "Classic" is all I need for photos, and more. If I buy a 5DII it will be with video in mind (and believe me, the wheels won't stop turning on that idea).

Have you considered what an amazing value the 5D Classic is at this point. It is an incredible tool for those of us who couldn't care less about "pro features".

I did consider the 5D and it is a great value right now. I am kinda interested in the video feature as well - I figured if the image quality is even as good as the original 5D then all would be fine It was a pick out for a Christmas present so I didn't think I could go wrong!

I hope you are aware that the 5DII shoots video in something similar to the green mode. Very limited control for the photographer.

Well, with my manual glass attached, it won't have much of a choice.

It auto-shifts the ISO to compensate for light change (such as your manually changing f-stop). But it doesn't happen immediately. It takes a few seconds.

And for what I understand, its still image capture while doing the video is low res.
