It should be noted that the fence will always cause a loss of contrast to some degree which depends on a lot of factors. It's like shooting through a lens with a very thin layer of vaseline. Generally you'll need a bit more work in PP to correct, but usually it's not to much of an issue. The longer the lens, the wider the aperture, the closer to the fence you are and the better the light the less effect the fence will have on your shot.
