p.1 #1 · Bird ID please

Hi. I have been admiring everybodys work for sometime now and i've decided to take the plung and post. These were taken in Monterey, Calif. Can someone help me identify this guy, I'm thinking female bi-colored blackbird.

Thx

It looks like you've got yourself a European Starling... I'm now reading about how their beaks may change colour with the season - I'm used to them having yellow ones... maybe I'm off here.

Welcome Tim!

Sure it all works once you figure it out!

European starling. Very common and invasive. Pretty isn't it?

You did capture it well, nice work.

Sorry about the double post, Josh and I seemed to answer at close to the same time.

As someone who has Starlings in the garden every day of the year (they even nest in the roof space), I feel knowledgeable enough to say: Juveniles have black beaks, adults have black beaks in winter and yellow beaks in summer. Males have a slight blueness at the base of the bill and in females it's light pink.

I bet you wish you'd never asked
