Well, the original rumor was indicating an official launch on July 1st, only the UK camera website was claiming that one would be able to have info from June 30th...
well it is only couple of minutes away from June 30th 23h59 till July 1st 00h01
OK countless people still use this term. You need to know it is offensive in nature.
Are you referring to "webbie" or "Jap"? If Jap, I think in this case the poster was referring to the country of Japan, not to a person. I don't think the use of Jap is offensive in that context. It's like saying "Can" for Canada.
Furthermore, context means everything. There used to be a Kosher Japanese restaurant on 42nd street between 5th and 6th Avenue in Manhattan. The female staff used to wear t-shirts that read, "I'm a JAP" which in that context meant both 'japanese' and 'jewish american princess'.
I've never liked the use of the term "Oriental", which I learned years ago was offensive, but many Chinese in America actually still use the term themselves. The strange thing about that term is that it seems to be PC to say, "I'm going to visit the Orient", but it's not okay to address Chinese or Korean or Japanese people as being Oriental.

that looks fake. The flash is even coming off the page, lol
I admit it looks weird, but I think it is not fake.
it is quite demanding to render the text curving as expected by the right page not being flat.
I serious doubt that one would spend so much time in such work, speaking germa, I can ensure that the text in bold is absolutely correct.

the link is down, I think it is a hint.
available end of July for 2600 Euro...
I guess the price will be aroud 3000 USD

God, I just bought a new D300. I hope it doesn't mess with prices too much.
Don't feel so bad. I failed to jump on the D300 bandwagon and purchased a second D200 when the D300 was released. Now I have two D200's that if sold are probably not worth enough to spring for one D700 body! What's even worse is that I have that soon-to-become-obsolete Nikon 17-55mm 2.8 DX lens which will be worth less than a roll of film in few months from now.
Note to Nikon; thanks for sticking to your promise of continuing with the development of DX cameras! I believed it and fell hook, line and sinker.

I'm in a generous mood so I'll send you 10 rolls of film for it. Let me know when and where.
Never mind the camera. What's really neat is how the magazine can get the ink to float right off the page. Now that's impressive. Who's going to first to bring that technology to the masses? Epson or Canon?
humm, 5fps- 8 with grip, the sb-900 is firmwear upgradable and zoom out to 200mm which is alot better than the previous 105 of the 800. no guide no. though so how effective at that range is yet to be seen. only 650 euro more than i paided for my d200. nice. this is definatly on my shopping list i might off load my d2h as well as my d200 for this.

Come on, snegs, they just released a D300. Isn't that continuing the development of DX?
Maybe it was their last hurrah? With the D700 looming in rumorland I can only fear that they will continue making DX cameras only for their entry level DSLR's and all their "prosumer and up" cameras will be full frame. This means that the D300 is as good as it will ever get regarding DX format now that Nikon has focused on developing technology for their FX format sensors.
Nikon should make it up to all of us faithfull diehards and produce that ellusive digital rangefinder everyone has been waiting for. Maybe that will ease our pain of having invested in their DX venture!

actually its not, I used to do 3D modeling and animation, and to create something that simple is extremly easy. The hardest part would be typing up the text, then saving the page as a picture.

Well, for being the chief editor of a Mac-dedicated website, I have never seen someone spending so much time for making such an elaborated hoax.
I am pretty sure that the issue of the german newspaper will actually look like the screencapture

"Jap" and "nip"are offensive to many people, since it has been used for many years to disrespect people in exactly the same way as "nigger" or "kike" or "dago" or "spic", or any other number of terms. Many people in the US don't realize how much it was used to whip up the frenzy after Pearl Harbor that resulted in thousands of loyal US citizens being interred in concentration camps for years for no good reason and to have their lives destroyed and property confiscated, not to mention beaten and killed.
Just write "Japanese" or "Japan". You can do it. Your fingers have the strength. If you really feel you must have an abbreviation, use "Jpn" or "Jp".
Nikon sells 65,000 D300's a month. I can't imagine they would have sold that many if the price were US$4000.
The D700 leaves space for the D400, D500, D600 (plus in between'ers like the D400x) to be announced. That's got to be at least 3 more cameras following that logic. And then if DX is still around, just change the number scheme.
But I am still FAR more interested in an AF-S 85 1.4 and 135 1.8 VR than anything else. I wish they had a lens roadmap like Pentax.

Ditto - with displacement mapping in Photoshop it is a 3 minute job.
I do think that camera is coming, but with the flash hanging off of the page this can't be real....
