I had planned to get out and shoot some film this weekend, but the cold rainy, overcast NYC weather did not inspire. So I decided to do a little indoor "Glamour" shoot. Even though these are not shot with a film camera, I'm hoping that shots OF film cameras are OK to post! Enjoy.
All Pana GX9 (m43) and 30mm Macro. Natural window light plus some white and black cards to shape it a bit.
I live in a top-floor Brooklyn apartment with floor to ceiling, West-facing windows that act like giant soft boxes. I set up in front of a window using a tripod with a horizontal arm to allow "top down" photography. Cameras were set on a bar stool with foam widgets to level and stabilize them.
Once I got a framing that I liked (I love that the GX9 can be set to a 1:1 framing. I like to frame in camera as much as possible. All of the collage images are completely as shot. No post cropping.) I hand held some cards to reflect (or block) the window light into (or out of) areas I wanted to highlight (or darken). I randomly moved things around while looking through the viewfinder, and took a few timed shots of each setup while positioning the cards in different ways.
I'm very seat-of-the-pants, even in my professional creative work, so this is how I roll!
I am super slow on getting film developed and then looking at it etc. and since I have been only shooting film as of late, it means I am a bit behind from imagery. So here's a "new" image from waaaaay back at the beginning of December.
"The Promised Land"
Fuji GX617, 180mm, Fuji Velvia 50, metered for 1/3 stop under exposed for highlights

A few cold snaps, taken with a Nikon F3HP and 50mm 1.4 ais. Ilford HP5+ in HC110 dilution H, scanned with a Pakon F135 and post-processed with Camera+2 app on iPad.
So I know a lot of you develop yourself, and I’d really like too someday but it’s off the table for a host of reasons. So any good mail away labs you recommend? Mostly B&W, some C41, not too much E6, 135 and 120. Have a local lab but I know they were having trouble with their C41 machine and debating if it was worth continuing. Thanks regardless.

Finally had a chance to get out with the Fuji GW690ii and a few rolls of Provia 100. Home developed using the Arista Rapid E6 Kit and scanned with my new darling, the Panasonic GX9 and 30mm Macro.
Still gives me chills when I see those gorgeous chromes on a light box!
Lower Manhattan from the Manhattan Bridge.
Fresh Salt, South Street Seaport. (The color of the columns is correct)
Cobble, South Street Seaport. (Creamy paint is the correct color)
Make me miss NYC. Loved at 135 William Street for about 5 years before I left. Great shots, need to use the 690 more.
