Steve, I have accumulated a few pieces for a DSLR setup & may put it together with my A7R. Unfortunately dont have a macro lens at this time..
My old 4990 seems to do a clean job at scans, but it is slow
FYI...I use a Canon FD 50mm macro lens with my Sony A7 for scanning medium format negatives...the lens usually runs about $60-$80 at KEH and does a great job. You can get the extenders pretty cheap too if you want to get in closer and stitch for higher res scans.
and who says you can't do action shots on a barnack

This was my step daughter's wedding I had the privilege to shoot. Normally shoot digital at paid shoots but had leeway on this shoot and was so pleased with the turnout of the film shots, I think my new setup is going to primarily be portra and my canon 7ne with L lenses.
I got the camera to do wet plate collodion but have not finished making the back for it. The camera came with 3 film holders and as I was in Hollywood on Saturday I stopped by Freestyle and picked up the film. I am amazed at the price of regular sheet film.
The camera is an Agfa-Ansco and in beautiful shape
Dan, that old radial biplane looks good. The darn skies never seem to cooperate with me either. I've been using up some color Fuji QLs lately. They are in pretty good shape to be as expired as they are. Then again, they came off eBay and you get what you pay for and vice-versa.

Kenny,
Thanks. From the forecast I knew the skies wouldn't participate, but that's what B&W is for ;-)
I had very good luck with QL off of Ebay.
A lot of Velvia 50. Seems the slow ISO means it lasts a bit longer.
The trouble I had with some Fuji Acros QL still perplexes me.
I thought it might be a light leak from the holder, but with the sky showing the variations in brightness,
that would mean the bottom of camera.
On closer inspection, the variations are evenly spaced at 1/3 the length,
long side, on ALL 4 exposures off Acros
This may in fact be from the Mod54 holder used n my development tank.
The trouble is, I also did some Ilford Delta after & it worked fine.
Definitely did agitation as suggested & prior Acros dev worked fine.
Yesterday I pulled out of storage my old Canon Rebel XT. I attached my only Canon lens, my 85mm f/1.2 L and everything still worked! Maybe 15 years in storage? Even better, there was still film in it! Sadly I opened up the back to discover the film so half the roll was ruined. Since the Rebel unrolls all the film at the beginning and then winds it back into the cassette as you shoot, half the roll will be OK. It will be interesting to see what I was shooting 15 or more years ago!
Also yesterday, my developing tanks arrived from Shanghai! I'm almost ready to start up again. I just need some beakers and a thermometer to complete my lab. Now I REALLY need to get serious about a scanner or digital camera to scan my film.

Cameras seem to last a long, long time. I have a few from the 1920s and 1930s that are working perfectly. In fact, I'm taking a 1942 Leica with me to Pittsburgh PA next week. I'll be in Chicago in March--maybe I can catch you somewhere?

Cameras from the '20s, 30s, and 40s dont have electronics so lasting long isnt as impressive as one with a CPU. Still, my Canon is only about 20 years old and was stored in a decent way.
Sadly, I dont live in Chicago anymore. I'm up in Michigan now so there's only a small chance I'll be there in March. However, PM me if you want photo tips from a life long Chicagoan. I'll help give you some ideas depending on what you want to see or shoot.
Wow! Welcome to the thread T! These shots are spectacular! Really impressive work. I like every last one. I have habitually shot with TMAX 400 for the past many years. Now I feel I have to try Tri-X again. What lens are you shooting here?
