I've tried the macro lens scanning method myself after I get my scans and negatives back from the lab, just to see how thy might compare. The level of detail you can get out of negatives using this method is definitely impressive but I struggle with getting the color anywhere near correct as well. Very difficult. I've been wanting to try Rollei digibase cn200 film since it does not use an orange mask and is supposedly much easier to convert after scanning.

My kinda shooting there! Could stare at those bikes all day.
Mind sharing your developing (developer, times, agi.)? My HP5 is always much more contrasty. Maybe it was an overcast day?
There were some great bikes in attendance! Mine is the black Ducati Monster pictured above.
It was mostly overcast throughout the day and I sent the film to The Darkroom to develop. The pre-ai 50mm f1.4 lens might have a bit to do with the low contrast. I don't find it particularly sharp or contrasty.
Nikon FE2 (bought from a member here! Like it more than my F6!), CV 40mm f2, Fuji C200

As an aside, I have recently been using TheFindlab for my processing/scanning. I have tried many of the big name places and these guys seem to be the best so far. An easy test for me is to look at a scanned pic that has a lot of pale sky in it. It should be clean and clear. With many labs in such a scene I would see scanning lines, artifacts etc which would normally be hidden in 'busy' areas of the image.

Tom, glad to see you posting. Hope your getting settled. Good work!
Thanks Jon. I check in here when I can, but it's not often compared to previous days. Last week we found our new house and signed a lease on it. Now we are prepping for the final move in the next week or so. Almost there. I've been shooting every so slightly, about one and a half rolls of film. It will be weeks until I get to see these images.
