This is from last month on our death march, aka, our 16+mile day hike up and down and through the South Cumberland State Park. Camera had to be light so I brought my Nikon fg20 and and two e-series lenses, the 50/1.8 and 35/2.5. Film was expired xtra400 on the first few and the rest on expired gold200. Processed in unicolor c41 kit, scanned on the pakon and touchups in lr5.

Steve,
Love the Hassy shots. Very crisp, great tonal range
Jon,
Great color work from your hike! Well exposed.
The fact that your lovely wife comes along AND lets you photograph her!!
My wife won't allow it, the snaps of her that is
Thanks everyone! I think the series e lens is extremely nice (super compact and cheap!). Not the sharpest at 1.8 but great one stop down. It renders OOF areas beautifully. Yes, my dog did the hike with us. He wouldn't have it any other way. And Dan, it took years before she would let me take a picture of her

That's a heck of a dog you have there Jon. That's a long walk for a dog.
Noah, nice MF work.
Curious is the RZ 65mm the LA version?
I've had RZ gear before & prefer the Mamiaya 7 for hiking.
What's your take? I have thought about getting an RZ again with just one lens

Thanks!
I have the 65mm W version since I didn't feel like carrying the heavier LA version, and its more expensive. Its a good lens, sharp for the most part. I have little complaints about but then again the Mamiya 7 version is just that amazing, wide open, corners, etc.. and I use it a lot more although I have no problems using the RZ, but they have different uses.
It is hard to say...I have the 65mm, 110mm, and 180.. (roughly mimics my favorite focal lengths in my canon gear). The 65 is fairly hard to beat if you like the FoV, but in the recent months I have grown to like the 110 focal length..If I had to pick one lens I'd probably choose the 65mm..they extra stop on the 110mm is nice..although I can hand hold it to about 1/30th or so..

The only drawback I see with the Mamiya 7 is the use of filters, "knowing" what the lens sees.
I'm working on that technique though. Also the ability to switch film types
Tom, our dog is hiiiiigh energy. He's a Rhodesian so he is like the energizer bunny. He's gotten a little older (he's 7) but when he was 2-3 years old, he could run and jump non stop all day with energy to spare. A little chunkier now though.
R.Young fantastic use of the Xpan format in your image.
A few additional images from my recent summer vacation in Alonissos - Greece
Film used is Rollei/CN200 rated at ISO100 scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 9000. PP in photoshop and lightroom.
Developed with the Tetenal C41 kit for 5:30min at 35'C
I am amazed at how good the lenses for my new "used" Mamiya 6 GF are. The 50mm is so sharp. The lens on the Rolleiflex GX has nicer bokeh and better for portraits but not as clinical and sharp as the Mamiya 6 75mm lens.

Mamiya lenses are simply at the top when it comes to sharpness.
Part 2 of the death march. First image is last frame from the expired gold200 roll, rest are from an expired Fuji c200 roll. Mix of 35 and 50 e-series lens.
A good 9.5 miles to go (1.5 miles past the campgrounds) plus side trails to overlooks (maybe 10.5 total).
view from where we came from
wife exhausted, dozed off
interesting side note: Grundy Co TN has always been infamous regarding illegal activities. First for moonshine operations, then in the 70's for auto theft (criminals would take and abandon them in the woods) and now for meth (blahhh!). Out in the middle of nowhere was this upside down stripped pickup.
old busted up still
1.5 miles to go and the light is fading fast. I am limping good by now.
